Are your students often off by one when they do a subtraction problem? We will unpack the various models of subtraction and how students progress from counting by ones strategies to non count by ones strategies. We will look for indicators of student thinking and consider a variety of subtraction strategies and contexts that support students constructing subtraction understanding.
