In early counting and operations, one of the most common answers when we ask students how they solved they reply “I did it in my head.” In this session we will consider how we can orchestrate conversations and get students to tell us more about their thinking. We will talk about teacher moves that help facilitate finding patterns across strategies, connecting them and creating robust conversations in the K-2 classroom.
